The tale of the social, political & economic woes &
suffering that poor Kenyans are undergoing needs no retelling. The
pains, fears and anxieties being experienced are written all over
their faces. The question is, who will supply the true light? Who
will lead the change for national salvation? Oscar Foundation wish
to partner their efforts in saving these faces with other intrested
group.
THE VISION
The vision of OFFLACK is to translate into a fact the fictitious
phrase that every man is deemed to know the law and that every
man knows his rights and obligation and can seek justice through
the law
THE MISSION
OFFLACK is committed to promoting legal awareness and representation
in courts of law as provided in the Civil Procedure Act Cap 21 Order
XXXII Rule 1 - 18 Laws of Kenya.
Our main mission is to see:
A great
Kenyan nation in which every citizens' rights are honoured and secured.
A society
in which law is observed and opportunities extended to all.
A society
in which development is accessed by all.
It must be remembered that law can become a potent weapon to protect
the weak, not when it is merely lawyers or textbook teaching, but
when the intended consumer knows its content and posses the know
how to claim it.
Oscar Foundation has placed such information booths in all courts
in Nairobi, Limuru and Muranga and plans to plant more in all courts
countrywide. It is only if the large masses
of our people become conscious of the law that many little tyrannies,
blow beating, bossisms, feudal operations and exploitative malpractices
can be eradicated.
n our bid to promote legal literacy and awareness Oscar Foundation
has come up with its own publication (book) entitled Law for the
Layman yet to be published , for more information please log on
to our website www.oscarfoundation.org
Now that our current constitution is being reviewed, it is essential
from this angle that whenever a social welfare legislation or law,
conferring economic benefit or other ameliorative measure is enacted
project must simultaneously be commenced for carrying the designed
broad content of the law so enacted to its prospective consumers
and such schemes should be systemized and not remain sporadic. |
